This class is an introduction to firearms safety, handguns and the fundamentals of shooting.
For new gun owners and beginners, those who have never handled a firearm or have very little experience or those looking for a comprehensive refresher on the basics.
This is a completely a private course, and you will have one-on-one time working with an instructor during the class and at the range.
Topics include:
- Firearm Safety & Rules
- Semi-Automatic Handgun Parts & Operation
- Ammunition Information
- Pistol Shooting Fundamentals & Marksmanship – Grip, Stance, Aim, Breath Control, Trigger Control
- Range Rules & Procedures
- Basic Cleaning, Maintenance & Storage
Format & Length:
Classroom – Lecture-based instruction ( approx. 3 to 4 hours )
Range – Live fire training on the range ( 1 to 1.5 hours )
1 hour break in between sessions. Student(s) will need to have own transportation to the range.

Bottled water and snacks available in the classroom.
You do not need to own a gun to take this class. You are welcome and encouraged to bring your own firearm if you own one.
(If your firearm is in a caliber other than .22lr or 9mm, you will need to bring your own ammunition).
Optional – Firearms Safety Certificate (FSC) Test $25
In California, you must have an FSC card to legally purchase a firearm. As a DOJ Certified Instructor, we can administer the test to obtain an FSC and issue the certificate.
As a convenience to students who are planning to purchase a firearm, you may take the test with us after the classroom session. Select this option on the registration form below if interested. More information on the DOJ FSC FAQ page.

Policies
Waiver:
Students must complete a standard waiver prior to attending. After registration, we will provide the waiver, to be completed and returned prior to the start of the class.
Cancellation Policy:
All payments are NON-REFUNDABLE but may be used towards another class or training session.
Certain types of classes require an additional fee to reschedule if adequate notice of cancellation is not given.
