The content is very well thought and prepared, and Kelly takes the time to cover it patiently and thoroughly. I found the class helped me substantially in rehearsing my dated firearm familiarity, which I neglected for a number of years. I encourage those who want to approach marksmanship, or getting better at it, to give Kelly at Spectrolite Training a chance. There are a number of alternatives out there, I personally believe Kelly at Spectrolite stands out for service, courtesy and knowledge, I gladly give her five well deserved stars. Her training is very... read more professional and thorough. Gun safety and proper handling was a major focus. We both learned a lot. She was very easy to understand and answered all our questions. After the class we went to the shooting range in Richmond. This is where it got even better. She helped us with our confidence in handling a live weapon. Her instruction and tips on aiming and shooting were excellent and easy to understand. My daughter seemed to be a natural. Her new nickname is Annie Oakley. All three of her targets had shot patterns within a 4" circle. Only 4 shots were out of that circle. Kelly is the one to go to. We plan on returning for more instruction once we purchase our handguns.

Kelly upon meeting was very warm and friendly. She immediately gave us properly fitted safety glasses and ear protection prior to entering the private range. Her course was very nicely paced with lots of pertinent information on gun safety & etiquette, how guns actually work on the mechanical level, how to take it apart, and the most exciting part... how to properly fire one!!! She uses diagrams and hands-on activities for us to get us used to holding the real thing.

We also had a chance to try a few other handguns including Kelly's personal handgun she uses for professional competitions. She walked us through how to eventually get our own handguns. There were never silly or stupid questions with Kelly, she is a professional and we never ever felt patronized for our lack of knowledge. She is also very safety conscious, and corrected any bad safety habits immediately.

Kelly is a gifted instructor and was so patient with me especially when my forearms and shoulders were getting quite fatigued from shooting. It was quite a novel but THRILLING experience for me and a fun date with my husband! Would recommend Kelly to anyone anxious about the idea of guns!!

Even better, when it comes time to shoot, Kelly takes you to the range on their off day, so you are likely to be the only one there, or sharing space with others who are new to firearms.
